In response to the recent announcement from the government in regards to the coronavirus pandemic, British Gymnastics announced that all National level events up to the end of June 2020 have been cancelled.
This includes the FIG World Cup in Birmingham on Saturday 28th of March, the Acro NDP & IDP Finals in Stoke on the 16th and 17th of May, as well as the Trampoline and Tumbling NDP Finals in Birmingham on the 6th and 7th of June.
Update: Lunar Gymnastics club have been advised to cancel this weekends Gymtastic Display event:
At the gym, all classes are going ahead as usual, until we are advised otherwise from British or Scottish Gymnastics. Additional cleaning will be taking place on a daily basis, including disinfecting all surfaces within the gym. All gymnasts MUST wash their hands before entering the gym.
We are, however, cancelling the Easter Disco and will not be organising any additional activities until further notice.
As always, we are monitoring the situation closely, and will make our members aware of any changes as they happen, via the website and social media. If you have any concerns, then do not hesitate to get in touch.
Scottish Gymnastics have released another update on the ongoing situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.
We continue to monitor advice from the Scottish Government on Coronavirus (COVID-19). At this stage the advice does not suggest that all sporting events should be cancelled and therefore our events on 14 and 15 March are currently going ahead. This decision has been taken in line with Scottish Government advice and following consultation with British Gymnastics, our technical panels and host venues. All clubs, gymnasts and spectators attending events are reminded of the current advice: if you have a fever (temperature) or persistent cough, you’re asked not to attend. If you are attending in any capacity, please follow the guidance of ‘Catch it, Bin it, Kill it’ and ensure you regularly wash your hands throughout the event. We’ll post any updates at https://www.scottishgymnastics.org/news/guidance-coronavirus and on social media.
British Gymnastics has released advice to all clubs regarding the spread of Coronavirus. Hand hygiene will be strongly promoted and encouraged, with new posters going up in the gym. All equipment and facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and wiped down as usual following use.
With specific relation to upcoming competitions, both Scottish and British gymnastics have decided against postponing any events at this time.
Please note that NDP Acro training tonight (Friday 17th Jan) will take place at the earlier time of 17:00 – 20:00. This is to give the gymnasts competing tomorrow the chance to get home and get some rest before tomorrows early start!
There will also be no training on Sunday due to the competition.
Good luck to the gymnasts competing in the Acrobatic Invitational this weekend!
